Tropical Golfing

Tropical Golfing

Golfing in tropical locations offers an unmatched blend of breathtaking scenery, lush landscapes, and year-round sunshine. Imagine teeing off against a backdrop of palm-fringed beaches, turquoise waters, and verdant rainforests – an experience where the serenity of nature meets the thrill of the game. Whether you're seeking a laid-back round amidst swaying coconut trees or a challenging course carved into volcanic terrain, tropical golf destinations provide an unforgettable escape from the everyday. Perfect for golfers of all abilities, these paradises promise not only top-tier fairways but also the unique allure of exotic wildlife, balmy breezes, and tranquil ocean views.

Fiji Como Laucala Island

Como Laucala Island is an 18-hole golf course by renowned designer David McLay Kidd on its own private island in the South Pacific. Lush, narrow fairways meander through palm-dotted hills, with a breathtaking par-5 finishing on a serene, white-sand beach—what’s not to love!

Cut through the jungle, the course is a challenge. But it is scenic. And memorable, especially the par-5 12th, with a green that extends to the beach. And with so few folks on the island, you can probably play 36. All of COMO Laucala Island is luxurious. As is this — the only access to the island is through either your own private jet, or the resort’s, which you board at Nadi International Airport.

Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club

Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club, situated on the tranquil Caribbean island of Anguilla, overlooks the island's most beautiful beach, and views reaching across the Anguilla Channel to Saint-Martin. The first is a championship-level course designed by Greg Norman, featuring expansive bunkers and striking water elements, yet offering plenty of fairways to enjoy.

This Greg Norman design features panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. The opening hole is notably picturesque, offering a spectacular view of the nearby St. Maarten. The rugged terrain of Aurora International Golf Club features dramatic elevation changes and natural water hazards, including ponds and saltwater lagoons that come into play on 13 holes. The fairways are generous but there are large, shallow bunkers for some challenge. Sand dunes and strong trade winds also add some difficulty to the course.

Heritage Golf Club, Mauritius

Heritage Golf Club, proudly features two distinct championship courses: the coastal-inspired La Reserve Golf Links, co-designed by Open champion Louis Oosthuizen, and the lush, parkland-style Le Chateau. In addition to its exceptional golf, Heritage boasts two luxury beachfront resorts, Le Telfair and Awali.
Peter Matkovich, one of the most productive modern golf course designers in South Africa, was the architect who fashioned the Château course at the Heritage Golf Club

The course is characterised by mainly wide fairways and sizeable putting surfaces, a number of which are guarded by water. There are a few elevation changes along the way which force a blind approach to greens
Holes are routed in two returning nines around a 9-hole par three course that’s ideal for beginners or for practice. The championship layout is meant to challenge experienced golfers, of course, but with five tee positions on every hole, casual golfers can enjoy a round here too

Most memorable holes on the Château course include a couple of short par fours at holes 5 and 9 whilst, on the back nine, the left doglegged 18th is a fine finishing par five that’s played from a wonderfully elevated tee position

Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico

One of Puerto Rico's top coastal retreats, Dorado Beach continues to be a premier destination to this day. On the golfing side, the TPC-branded club offers two championship courses, with a third—designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.—set to debut soon. This West Course, a nearly $20 million project, adds to the resort's rich golfing legacy, originally established when Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed the East Course in 1958.

Major modifications to the layout were made in 2005 by Raymond Floyd and the two nines on the course were reversed to end the round on a hole that sweeps to the left, playing to a green set below the oceanside clubhouse.

Another fine hole on the course, the par five 4th, is a double dogleg that weaves around a couple of ponds en route to a seaside green that’s rated one of the best sites in the Caribbean.
